Getting to Hotel Sante in Velingrad is easy:
From Sofia take the Trakia Highway towards Plovdiv, exit for Septemvri and Varvara, then continue on the winding road to Velingrad – drive carefully.

From Plovdiv head towards Pazardzhik via the ring road, then follow signs to Velingrad. The road is in good condition, running alongside the narrow-gauge railway and river, offering beautiful views.

Parking

Parking is available at the hotel, and there are also parking spaces around the hotel. No reservation is needed.

TSEPINA
If you love a bit of history and stunning views, Tsepina Fortress is the perfect place to visit. Just 6 km from Dorkovo village, these impressive ruins sit high up in the Rhodope mountains. The fortress was once a medieval stronghold, with thick stone walls, water storage tanks carved into the rock, and even the remains of three old churches. Today, it’s a peaceful spot to walk around, soak in the mountain air, and imagine the life that once thrived there.

TSIGOV CHARK
Tsigov Chark is a peaceful mountain resort by the beautiful Batak Dam, just a short drive from Rakitovo and Batak. It’s a great spot for fishing, boating, or simply enjoying the fresh mountain air. In winter, there’s a small ski slope perfect for beginners and families. With its cozy hotels and lovely views, it’s ideal for a relaxing day out.

PLIOCENE PARK – DORKOVO
If you’re curious about the distant past, the Pliocene Park in Dorkovo is a small but impressive museum showing fossils from around 5 million years ago. Its star attraction is the life-sized model of a huge mastodon that once roamed these lands. You’ll also see ancient animal bones and a beautiful mural showing what the area looked like back then. It’s an interesting and quick stop to explore the history hidden beneath these mountains.

BELMEKEN DAM
Belmeken is a beautiful high-mountain dam in Rila, sitting at nearly 2000 m above sea level. It’s surrounded by breathtaking alpine views and is famous for the nearby Belmeken Sports Complex, where athletes train year-round. If you love mountain drives, picnics with a view, or just want to enjoy the fresh air and stunning panoramas, Belmeken is definitely worth a visit.

KLEPTUZA
Kleptuza is a beautiful natural area and one of the symbols of Velingrad. It is the largest karst spring in Bulgaria, forming two lakes surrounded by a peaceful park with walking paths and tall pine trees. The water is crystal clear and cold all year round. It’s a lovely spot for a calm walk or a coffee by the lake.
